Drinking from the Fire Hose

A good friend of mine (MBA graduate) describes the first semester of B-school as "drinking from the fire hose. " This is a nice analogy in a couple ways. On one hand the information comes so fast it tough to really take a sip, on the other hand it feels like I'm getting hit in the head daily by a 1000psi sledgehammer. There are many times during the day when I absolutely no idea what day it is unless I look at my laptop.

The first two weeks have really been exciting. There are so many opportunities that we have to choose from. Unfortunately, some people are already making a choice between studies and sleep. That one is easy for me and Mr Z's will always win in the end. Here is the lineup for Q1 (in no particular order):

  • accounting
  • management communications
  • operations
  • decision analysis
  • marketing
  • personal career assessment program (non-graded)
Our daily routine looks something like this:
  • 6:30am - roll out of bed
  • 7:30am - walk/ride/drive to class
  • 8:00am-1:00pm - class
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm - organizational meeting (most days)
  • 2:00pm-6:30pm - case prep
  • 7:00pm-10:00pm - learning team
The schedule is full but the people are absolutely fantastic. I probably laugh at some crazy story or person at least once per day.
