Down Time

The first few days after finals ended have been a real mix of emotions. I am excited to have completed the first-year, but I am sad to leave some of the experiences behind. I find myself longing for some of the intense discussions, meanwhile my body is really glad to have some quiet. The last few weeks have been especially exhausting.

I've been fortunate to have some recent visitors come and enjoy the spring season here in Charlottesville. It's a beautiful time of year to get out and enjoy some local scenery. The wineries are always happy to see us and I've also managed some good riding up on the Blur Ridge Parkway which is only 20 miles from town.

In these few days between school and internship it's a rare opportunity to rest and recover. I am doing my best to catch up with friends and spend time at home. There are still little things to take care of, financial aid applications, buying suits for work, paying bills and getting things set up for the move. Some students have already started working this week. For them it will pay off at the end of summer when they have a big break, but I an hardly imagine sitting behind a desk so soon after finals.
