Tomorrow is the last day of classes. It is a bittersweet feeling. I have enjoyed so much about the last four quarters of school but at the same time become so exhausted mentally. A combination of club activities, case preparation and high classroom tempo has worn me down.
In the news this week was the reported cheating at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke. I can understand how from an outsiders point of view this type of cheating is simply foolish. How can it be worth it? It isn't, and it is foolish. But we have to be a bit sympathetic to the context. Some
of these students were international, and all of them have faced a year of intense pressure. It's easy to say "I'd never do that" but many of us would. I have to imagine that the Fuqua school attracts equally talented and honest minds as Darden. I'd like to believe that none of my classmates would cheat, but I'm more inclined to believe that our best move is to avoid these situations. Keeping perspective can be really difficult, but when the pressure is on this is all you have to remind you of the separation between right and gray area.
